Thanks to our student volunteers, Adi, Amanda S, Anya, Ara, Emily, Emmy, Eliza, Elliot, Ezra, Jenny, Kate, Maddie, Payson, and Rebecca for getting to know our cats and then writing these paw-some profiles. You will notice that our cats range from about 1 year old to 14 years old. We don’t take in cats under 8 months old, but if you’re looking to adopt a kitten we suggest checking out rescue partners PALS Animal Lifesavers and PAWS Wakefield. OUR CURRENT CATS

  • Close-up of a Siamese cat resting its head on a gray cushioned surface, with a neutral background.

    Max

Max is a 9 year old Siamese that was brought to us through a joint rescue effort between PAWS and PALS after his owner could no longer care for him. He is super friendly and has even shown an affinity for laps. We believe that Max is really short for “Maximum Love!” Max has kidney issues and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and we’re working with vets to stabilize his condition and help him gain weight back.  His current position as Walmart greeter means he is often the first one you will meet at the cafe.

  • Black cat with yellow-green eyes lying on a soft surface, looking at the camera inside a wooden or cardboard enclosure.

    Jack

Meet Persephone’s dad, a two year old who was rescued as a stray by PALS. Over time, Jack has really come out of his shell, allowing humans to give him pets. He loves nothing more than to snooze atop the cat tree, occasionally tilting his head to watch other cats (and people) go about their day. Jack can sometimes get a bit overstimulated with too much love, but really enjoys just being in the company of humans, sitting near them and observing the cafe happenings. Jack has FIV, which can only be transferred to another cat through a deep bite, usually in the wild, and can live a normal life given good nutrition and routine vet care.   Jack has an approved adopted and will be going home with his daughter Persephone in a few weeks!

  • A black and white cat with green eyes lying on a dark surface, looking directly at the camera.

    Monty

“Don’t stop loving me. Can we play now? Are we there yet? I’m ready for a snack.”  We think those are just some of the thoughts that go through Monty’s head in the course of a minute. This high-energy two year old boy was rescued as a stray by PALS before coming to the cafe. Unfortunately, he had lost a lot of fur patches, the likely cause being stress. With the help of the cafe, he has flourished into quite the snuggly, playful cat that he is inside! His favorite activities include hoarsing around with a turtle wand toy and wrestling with his buddy Kermit. Through the efforts of the cafe, we are working to help Monty build his courage and find him the right diet so he can be a model for the Fur Regrowth Club for Men.

  • A cream-colored cat with orange markings and blue eyes lying in a woven basket on a tiled floor, looking up at the camera.

    Lord Briar

Do you see a huge pair of eyes staring at you from behind the couch? A monster? No, it’s just Lord Briar, a beautiful 6 yr-old flame point siamese. This adorable boy was surrendered to the Odd Cat Sanctuary after coming from a tough home life. He started out shy and prefering to hide behind the couch, but has started getting braver and even climbed on a few laps. Lord Briar will accept head pats, brushing, and might even eat treats from your hand with a little encouragement. When you touch him, you’ll notice his indescribably soft fur! Lord Briar has serious Irritable Bowel Disorder which can be managed with the right dietary restrictions and vet care. Lord Briar has an approved adopter and will be going home in a few weeks.

  • A black cat with yellow eyes lying down on a carpet.

    Persephone

Jack’s daughter is here! Persephone is about one year old and pretty shy right now, sort of like her sister Freya when she first came. She is super curious about other cats and has a lot of resemblances to Jack! When Persephone saw Jack after 8 months, she ran out to greet him and now he grooms her :) Persephone will be getting adopted together with Jack in a few weeks!

  • Black and white tuxedo cat sitting on a wooden floor, looking up with yellow eyes, in front of a gray cabinet.

    Bobbi

Bobbi (aka Ms. Suits) is a 7 month old tuxedo superstar who was rescued by PAWS. She is still quite shy, but very curious and playful once she gets used to you. Bobbi also sports the cutest bobtail that we’ve never seen yet on a tuxedo cat!

  • A gray and white cat sitting on a wooden floor near a doorframe.

    Sam

Talk about 2 degrees of kitty separation! 3 year old Sam happens to be both the sister of Maisy (adopted two years ago) and the mother of Persephone (currently here at the cafe). She was rescued 8 months ago by PALS along with Jack, Persephone, and Freya. She’s a bit shy right now, but she loves taking a peek at the other cats and is getting more used to pets (especially with the back scratcher!)

  • Peaches

Behold Coco’s sister Peaches who was also rescued by PALS.  Peaches is barely one year old and has already had kittens. She is a purr machine and loves to show her belly. She loves when you give her a churu or two. Peaches isn’t quite sure how she feels about the cats in the cafe and is probably more of a solo cat, but she loves the humans who visit! She always likes to play (just like her sister Coco!). She is a gorgeous calico cat. Her name could even be Gloria because she so gorgeous. Who ever adopts her is very lucky.

  • Amelia

Meet Amelia, a sweet almost one year old cutie who was rescued as a pregnant mama by PALS. Amelia started out shy at first, but as she gets confident she comes out for pets and has even gotten on a lap already. Amelia loves treats especially the cookie like cat treats. We think that she sleeps in the little house in the back so if the bathroom door opens she can make an escape. Or maybe she just wants to explore the back hallway? If only Amelia could tell us. We’d love to know what’s on her mind! We’re still introducing her into the cafe so we don’t know yet how much she needs to be with other cats. She’s purr-fect and purr-dorable. Who ever adopts her is a lucky winner.

  • Wednesday

Wednesday is our newest shy cat enigma. She was rescued as a stray kitten by PAWS last year (known as Spaghetti by PAWS) and took her time getting more confident in her foster home before arriving at the cafe. Wednesday allows some petting (not hugs), likes treats (the more gruesome the better), enjoys cello music, and is working on her new book of spells titled Woe Thyself.
