Thanks to our student volunteers, Adi, Amanda S, Anya, Ara, Emily, Emmy, Eliza, Elliot, Ezra, Kate, Maddie, Payson, and Rebecca for getting to know our cats and then writing these paw-some profiles. You will notice that our cats range from about 1 year old to 14 years old. We don’t take in cats under 8 months old, but if you’re looking to adopt a kitten we suggest checking out rescue partners PALS Animal Lifesavers and PAWS Wakefield. OUR CURRENT CATS
-
Lex
Lex is a dapper older gentleman who enjoys looking sharp in his fancy bow ties! He came to us in rough shape with many health issues including diabetes, arthritis, and irritable bowel. This made some basic cat activities like walking and jumping or even grooming difficult. You could tell he just didn't feel well. A change of diet to a novel protein diet (consisting of rabbit, duck, venison, and even alligator - $600/month!) and an injection for his arthritis has Lex feeling like a new kitty! This 15 year old miracle boy takes his insulin without issue, has put on weight, and is now walking, jumping, demanding his yummy food, and snoozing in cozy spots. He feels so much better! With his expert biscuit making and soulful eyes, he is sure to steal your heart, just as he has stolen ours.

Chickpea
Chickpea is a three year old stray who was rescued and fostered by PAWS Wakefield for 4 months. He’s shy but is progressing step by step to becoming the energetic cat we know he is inside. He now regularly adventures out, climbing his cat tree and playing with his favorite wand toy, and wrestling with his buddies. When he first arrived in September, he wouldn’t let anyone pet him. Now, he asks for pets by head bumping people’s hands. We know this little chickpea has more than hummus to offer. His new people will have to work to make him continue to feel loved and safe. We also think he needs a cat buddy to keep him company. We can’t wait to see how he continues to progress into the best Chickpea ever.
-
Max
Max is a 9 year old Siamese that was brought to us through a joint rescue effort between PAWS and PALS after his owner could no longer care for him. He is super friendly and has even shown an affinity for laps. We believe that Max is really short for “Maximum Love!” Max has kidney issues and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and we’re working with vets to stabilize his condition and help him gain weight back. His current position as Walmart greeter means he is often the first one you will meet at the cafe.
-
Milo
Aren’t Milo’s eyes mesmerizing? Milo is a 7 year old who was surrendered to PALS when his family moved. Although he is often hiding during guest hours, he is super friendly and lovable when feeling brave and will probably follow you around everywhere you go. He loves to play and has quite the jump for a chonky cat. Milo is a shedding machine, but loves being brushed all over!
-
Jack
Meet Freya’s dad, a shy two year old who was rescued as a stray by PALS. Over time, Jack has really come out of his shell, allowing humans to give him some gentle pats. He loves nothing more than to snooze atop the cat tree, occasionally tilting his head to watch other cats (and people) go about their day. Jack can sometimes get a bit overstimulated with too much love, but really enjoys just being in the company of humans, sitting near them and observing the cafe happenings. Jack has FIV, which can only be transferred to another cat through a deep bite, usually in the wild, and can live a normal life given good nutrition and routine vet care.

Monty
“Don’t stop loving me. Can we play now? Are we there yet? I’m ready for a snack.” We think those are just some of the thoughts that go through Monty’s head in the course of a minute. This high-energy two year old boy was rescued as a stray by PALS before coming to the cafe. Unfortunately, he had lost a lot of fur patches, the likely cause being stress. With the help of the cafe, he has flourished into quite the snuggly, playful cat that he is inside! His favorite activities include hoarsing around with a turtle wand toy and wrestling with his buddy Kermit. Through the efforts of the cafe, we are working to help Monty build his courage and find him the right diet so he can be a model for the Fur Regrowth Club for Men.
-
Sunny
This cat, without a doubt, deserves a name like Sunny. With his deep amber eyes and light orange coat, two year old Sunny is truly a beauty. He’s not only recognized for his looks, but also his personality! Sunny is very curious, social and easygoing; he loves all types of snuggles and attention, even displaying his cream-colored belly to certain people he meets. True to his name, Sunny will snooze for hours on end near the front windows of the cafe, basking in the sun. Sunny has an approved adopted and will be going to his furr-ever home in a few weeks.
-
Ginny and Lady
Meet Lady and Ginny, a beautiful, deeply bonded pair of 8-yr-old tortoiseshell soul sisters from the Odd Cat Sanctuary. They may not be related by blood, but they most definitely are in spirit. Since they resemble each other quite a bit, they might be hard to tell apart. Lady’s face is of narrower size and her fur is more red in color, while Ginny’s face is rounder and her fur is darker in comparison. They are the yin to the other’s yang, Lady being more social and brave, and Ginny being more reserved and timid. Lady is FIV+, but will be able to live a long life with the right nutrition and regular vet care. Lady can live with other cats, as we now know that FIV+ can only be transmitted through a deep bite, typically in wild outdoor settings. Despite their differences, the two are both affectionate and seek physical love from each other or humans. Lady and Ginny share an unbreakable bond that is conveyed through their eating from the same plate, following each other around the room, or (quite literally) stacking atop each other in their special space. Lady and Ginny truly demonstrate friendship and certainly have a lot of love to give to their future home.

Lord Briar
Do you see a huge pair of eyes staring at you from behind the couch? A monster? No, it’s just Lord Briar, a beautiful 6 yr-old flame point siamese. This adorable boy was surrendered to the Odd Cat Sanctuary after coming from a tough home life. He started out shy and prefering to hide behind the couch, but has started getting braver and even climbed on a few laps. Lord Briar will accept head pats, brushing, and might even eat treats from your hand with a little encouragement. When you touch him, you’ll notice his indescribably soft fur! Lord Briar has serious Irritable Bowel Disorder which can be managed with the right dietary restrictions and vet care. Please note that for the next week or two, we’re giving Lord Briar a break from visitors so we can adjust his meds and diet and build his confidence.
-
Orion
When you glance at Orion’s orb-like golden eyes and sleek, jet-black fur, it makes you feel as if you’ve fallen into a black hole! This social 1 year old came to us as a stray from PALS and has melted us already with his sweetness. A little ball of energy, Orion can frequently be seen zooming around the cafe and roughhousing playfully with the other cats. Orion is a true explorer, willing himself to investigate other cats, humans, or the occasional overturned cardboard box. Orion can also sometimes be seen rocking his dapper outer space bowtie!
