Thanks to our student volunteers, Adi, Amanda S, Anya, Ara, Emily, Emmy, Eliza, Elliot, Ezra, Jenny, Kate, Maddie, Payson, and Rebecca for getting to know our cats and then writing these paw-some profiles. You will notice that our cats range from about 1 year old to 14 years old. We don’t take in cats under 8 months old, but if you’re looking to adopt a kitten we suggest checking out rescue partners PALS Animal Lifesavers and PAWS Wakefield. OUR CURRENT CATS
-

Max
Max is a 9 year old Siamese that was brought to us through a joint rescue effort between PAWS and PALS after his owner could no longer care for him. He is super friendly and has even shown an affinity for laps. We believe that Max is really short for “Maximum Love!” Max has kidney issues and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and we’re working with vets to stabilize his condition and help him gain weight back. His current position as Walmart greeter means he is often the first one you will meet at the cafe. Currently, proceeds from yoga classes and tarot nights go towards his medical care.

Monty
“Don’t stop loving me. Can we play now? Are we there yet? I’m ready for a snack.” We think those are just some of the thoughts that go through Monty’s head in the course of a minute. This high-energy two year old boy was rescued as a stray by PALS before coming to the cafe. Unfortunately, he had lost a lot of fur patches, the likely cause being stress. ’ With the help of the cafe, he has flourished into quite the snuggly, playful cat that he is inside! His favorite activities include playing with the mouse wand toy and coming a table to get extra pets and love. Sam is pretty bonded with Monty (they groom each other and hang in boxes together), so we prefer they get adopted as a pair.

Lord Briar
Do you see a huge pair of eyes staring at you from behind the couch? A monster? No, it’s just Lord Briar, a beautiful 6 yr-old flame point siamese. This adorable boy was surrendered to the Odd Cat Sanctuary after coming from a tough home life. He started out shy and prefering to hide behind the couch, but has started getting braver and even climbed on a few laps. Lord Briar will accept head pats, brushing, and might even eat treats from your hand with a little encouragement. When you touch him, you’ll notice his indescribably soft fur! Lord Briar has serious Irritable Bowel Disorder which can be managed with the right dietary restrictions and vet care. Lord Briar has an approved adopter and will be going home in a few weeks.
-

Sam
Talk about 2 degrees of kitty separation! 3 year old Sam happens to be both the sister of Maisy (adopted two years ago) and the mother of Persephone (currently here at the cafe). She was rescued 8 months ago by PALS along with Jack, Persephone, and Freya. She’s a bit shy right now, but she loves taking a peek at the other cats and getting pets (while eating Churu!). She has just started playing with wands and ping pong balls, especially in the evenings. Sam is pretty bonded with Monty (they groom each other and hang in boxes together), so we prefer they get adopted as a pair.

Chester (aka Chess)
Meet Chester, an adorable 1-year-old bundle of love! This fluffy tuxedo was rescued as a stray by PAWS Wakefield, in the same area that Bobbi, a fellow cat at the cafe, used to live. This shy boy prefers to rest inside of his comfy bin in the vestibule, snoozing away the hours. He can be quite shy and jumpy, so he can take some time warming up to strangers. After he does, he’ll waste no time activating his purrs and showing off his luxurious belly! As soon as you give him a few pets, this adorable boy will begin to make biscuits on his special blanket or even in the air! Chester can get a bit feisty if given too much love, and is most comfortable if he can sniff your hand before you touch him. He prefers light pets and mild face rubs as supposed to hugs or any other rough play. Much like some of the other cats in the cafe, Chester can easily fall for some delicious Churu treats! Chester has an approved adopter and will be going to his fur-ever home in a few weeks.

Biff
Meet our newest shy cat project, Biff! He’s definitely has the same level of shyness as Clooney, Pixie, and Clooney before him. This 6 year old has been through a lot and was saved by the pawsome people at PAWS Wakefield, who fostered him and gave him the medical care he needed. Most of his teeth have been removed and he is blind in one eye. Biff will not let anyone touch him, but is very curious about other cats and even let Monty groom his head. We know it will take a long time, but we are excited to help him feel more confident and make friends here.
-

Nell
Nell (short for her PAWS name - Ragnell) is a shy one year old mama who was rescued as a stray by PAWS. Right now, we’re spending a lot of time talking to her and giving her slow blinks to get her feeling braver. She just started accepting pets but is mostly hiding up high or in cubbies right now.
-

Sylvester
Oh how long we’ve waited for a cat named Sylvester so we could bust out all our Looney Toons gear! Sylvester is a calm and wise kitty who likes to sit on the back couch at the cat cafe. Sylvester was rescued as a feral by an awesome PALS volunteer, where he spent almost a year building up his trust and confidence before coming to the cafe. We estimate he is about 1.5-2 years old and is quickly revealing his loving side. He loves to sit next to you on the couch and accept gentle pats. He might even climb into your lap and make himself at home. Once comfortable with a person, Sylvester loves to rub up against your legs, but be careful….he’s a big boy and easily topple you over with love! Sylvester has an approved adopter and will be going home to his tweetie-pie in a few weeks

Pepper
Pepper is our new super shy “spirit” cat, who you will rarely see but adores other cats. She was rescued by a PALS volunteer as a pregnant mom and was in a foster home for a long time until she was ready to come to the cafe. Right now, we are giving her space to get more comfortable and confident, hoping for more glimpses of this beauty in the coming months.
